Developed a Video and Blog
Junior Infants Create a Video on Ireland for Children in America
Junior Infants created a video to send to a kindergarten class in South Carolina. One of the children's Aunt is a teacher in a school which was having an International Month Celebration. She asked her niece to create a video in school to show Irish culture and St. Patrick's Day. The children brainstormed ideas about what they wanted to show. They decided they wanted to tell the American children about the Irish flag, the shamrock and sing a song they learned during one of their Gaeilge lessons.
Anti-Racism & Anti-Bullying Week
In Scoil Choilm C.N.S., we celebrated an Anti-Racism and Anti- Bullying Week. As part of this week, the older children were asked to take pictures and videos of the events which took place. The children worked with their peers to compile photographic evidence. At the event, a number of children were given roles to use technology. Some children recorded the event as a video and others as pictures. Two children were responsible for sound. Each class grouping chose different songs and artwork to prepare for the event. The children created lines to talk about Anti- Racism and Anti- Bullying.
Scoil Choilm Blog
Scoil Choilm has developed a blog where the activities, events and work are shown. In the younger classes, the children contribute to the post and the teacher scribes it. In the older classes, the children create the posts themselves and the teacher proofreads their work. The children are also encouraged to read it at home and to show it to their parents online.
